Scoring a fresh academic achievement, the University of Kurdistan (UOK) is now rising head and shoulders above many Asian universities in an updated review by the Times Higher Education Ranking System.

The UOK stood 201-2050 in the Times’ recently released “Asia University Rankings”, which assessed 489 universities from 30 nations across the continent, based on 13 yardsticks and against the five criteria of citations, industry outcome, international outlook, research and teaching. Top on the list are Tsinghua University and the University of Beijing, and adjacent to the two Chinese universities is the National University of Singapore.

As for the highest number of universities from the covered countries in the Times’ report, Iran-representing 40 academic centers-stood fourth next to Japan, China and India. Among those 40 Iranian universities, the UOK ranked seventh.

In a previous global ranking titled the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (2020), the UOK made history standing at 801-1,000. The breakdown found the UOK at the 601-800 range in the fields of engineering, technology and physical sciences and granted it a +600 rank for global impact.

As one of the most prestigious and reliable centers on the global scale, when it comes to the evaluation of the scientific and social standing of universities worldwide, the Times Rankings releases meticulously-produced and detailed annual reports based on a multitude of criteria, including subjects taught and the impact level. The system’s specific assessment of Asian universities was launched in 2013 and covered the UOK for the first time in its latest report.
