UOK's Special Focus on Exchange Programs Bearing Fruit
Sunday, 04 08 2019
A dozen more UOK students have won international scholarships, as the university continues to closely follow exchange programs as a priority.
Admission at different reputable European universities for 12 UOK students is now finalized within a broader exchange agenda the UOK has been trying to advance in the past few years. Of those 12 students, seven have been awarded scholarships from Austria's FH Joanneum, four from the Paris-based ICD International Business School and one from Spain's Jaen University, with packages including monthly stipends between 850 to 1050 euros as well as return tickets.

According to Dr. Qobad Shafiee, the Deputy Chief for the UOK's Scientific and International Cooperation Bureau, the fresh achievement was part of a one-million-euro program launched in Iran in 2017, in which exchange with top European universities is sought and at which the UOK has so far been a major frontrunner.

Addressing an event attended by the UOK's board of directors and organized to honor the admitted students, Dr. Shafiee touched upon the history of such exchange interactions in Europe, which have now evolved into "Erasmus +" programs.

During the same event, Mehran Mohammadi, an industrial engineering major and one of the scholarship-winning graduates urged UOK officials to launch the university's comprehensive English website, strengthen language courses and open a modernized smart lab for industrial engineering students.

As part of the UOK's exchange activities, 2018 also saw varying numbers of students admitted into those three academic centers. The program has transcended beyond mere student exchange, with university professors from the two Austrian and French centers visiting the UOK last year. For the upcoming academic year also, four professors from the UOK have already been awarded grants to visit the universities, which are signatories to the exchange deals.
