The establishment and operation of this laboratory dates back to 2007,i.e. about one year after the admission of the first undergraduate students in Biology. As a result of equipping the laboratory, educational and research activities have been making parallel progress.
The Research Section of Biochemistry Laboratory

The main focus of research in this area is the study of enzymes. Enzymes, as bio-catalysts, undoubtedly have an important place in the life of living beings. Therefore, studying them can be at the heart of biological studies, which includes its both pure and applied aspects. Several enzymes have been studied in this laboratory, including Phytase Enzymes, Acetylcholinesterase, Hydroxymethylglutaryl Co-reductase, Tyrosinase, and Alpha Glucosidase.
Two main axes of the study on the enzymes mentioned above include identifying and determining the characteristics of the enzymes in case of having the target enzymes’ sources being available, and the other on the inhibition effect of plant extracts on the kinetic behavior of pure enzymes. The results of the above activities include several Master's theses, articles presented in national and international conferences, as well as articles published or in print in reputable journals, which are accessible on the personal page of the laboratory.
